Passed!

Mostly used this app to study for the test and passed no with no problem. Thanks Sportys. The best $10 youll spend!

Good Test Prep App

Just passed my Private Pilot written exam yesterday! This app was the only test preparation software i used. Very effective. Very affordable.

Best 10 dollars Ive ever spent!

Just passed the written yesterday with ease. A lot of the questions I encountered were the exact same word for word on this app! This app is worth more than 10 dollars!

Fantastic!!! Ive passed with 100%

Ive use the app for preparing to the Private Pilot knowledge test! I focus most of my time in the "Learning Mode" and "Test Mode" This app its really helpful. Ive scored 100%! And I revived a Free lunch $20 from the instructor for the perfect score! Ill recommend this app to all new student pilots!

Great study tool

This was my primary study tool, and did a great job of preparing me for the written. I saw many, if not all, the same questions on the actual test. It was super convenient having this on my phone - nice to be able to pop it open whenever I had a few minutes. As other reviewers have mentioned, a great enhancement would be a way to save missed questions in between sessions. Otherwise, terrific app.

Just aced my FAA private test

I basically spent a week with my jeppesen test guide and 2 days with nothing but this app running on my phone. Got ALL 60 questions right. The answers just spat themselves out. Great app. Next up...actual flight.

Great app

This is a great app for preparing for the FAA Private Pilot Knowledge Test. Its very convenient to use and nicely arranged. I studied this in "chunks" and was well prepared for the test. I scored a 98% so I found this to be helpful and good value. One tip is to buy the hard copy testing supplement, available with test prep books from various pilot stores. It is exactly what you will be given for the actual test and allows you to practice plotting courses, measuring distance etc. Its easier to use than the digital images on the app or on the computer screen during the actual test. A tip is you cannot mark on the supplement during the test. You will be given a transparency to lay on top and an erasable marker for the plots so it is good to practice in that manner.

Wont start on my iPhone 4S

Useless $10.

Aced my exam!

This is pretty much the only written test prep I used and I aced the real test. If you can pass the practice tests on here, you can pass the actual exam. Highly recommended!!!!!

The good, bad, and ugly in ths app

GOOD: The format/functionality of the app is great; the different learning modes for aspiring/beginner pilots preparing for their written FAA exams could almost serve as a direct replacement to many expensive ground school courses intended to help an aspiring pilot pass the **written** exam. If your goal is to just (barely) pass the written exam with the minimum amount of time invested, and you have no aspirations to become a professional pilot where those test scores actually reflect on you personally, GREAT!! Especially if you love your iPad/iPhone and hate reading through those troublesome books with all that extra stuff actually explaining why things work the way they do in flight, and prefer the brute-force method of just learning the correct answers to specific questions for the most(*) part. *(see ugly) BAD: When in "Learning Mode" and you touch "Show Explanations", it would be generous of me to say that half the questions actually have explanations helpful in building your knowledge rather than just brute-forcing you through to the correct answer for when you take the written test. Questions involving "see figure XX" are at best sufficient on the simple questions (e.g. taxi w/x-wind, basic guages, etc.), but much more likely require you swap back & forth between the question and figure so often that its easier to just write down the question on some scrap paper while you look at the figure. Given that a good 10-20% of the "see figure XX" questions require plotters and measurements impossible to accomplish accurately on your iDevice, you can mitigate this by simply printing off all the "figure XXs" on paper, in the correct scale, and referencing those instead of touching the "see figure" button. Would still be nice to have the question stay on the screen while viewing the figure for those 80% of questions accurate plotter measurements arent required. UGLY: So far on this app, Im about 250+ questions into what looks like around 800 programmed into the app, and have already encountered flat-out incorrect/out-of-date answers. Not little things, either.. serious stuff like causing a runway incursion that could result in (at best) ATC instructing you to file a mandatory report and maybe getting your license pulled/reviewed, or (at worst) even contributing to a ground collision on an active runway.. This is an example of a regulation that went into force in mid-2010, the Sportys app v1.0 was released in early 2011. Here we are, 3+ years and a bunch of app updates later, and Im still getting taught how to ignore the aviation equivalent of "STOP" or "RR X-ing" signs. Maybe all the other 800+/- answers are correct, but once you hit one so wrong that it puts your license & life in jeopardy, it kinda shakes your confidence in the app to teach you the rest. END RESULT: Still a great and helpful app to *help* you with the written exam, when used in concert with actual flight training from a CFI and ground school curriculum.. NOT any kind of substitute to save $$ unless you just dont care about your record showing a barely passing score and are just getting your license for fun.. ;-)

This app is useless.

Used to kinda work. Now it crashes EVERY single time without fail, cannot use the app.

Passed the written Private Pilot exam easily!

This app was excellent to prepare for my test with. Love the different modes - Study, Flashcard and Exam Mode. 600 questions available. Pretty much all the ones that came up in my test were familiar to me. Got a great score and enjoyed studying for it. Now if anything you want to learn had such a great study tool as this app... :)

Most helpful tool used to pass written test

I had used other online sources for testing from places like Gliem but there soft ware was hard to use and inconvenient. I was recommended this from a friend and bought it, which for $10 I thought was very reasonable. The app has all the questions you will see on the test and many are word for word the same as what I saw. The best part is you can take many practice tests and find out what you missed, restudy and take them again. With the app on my iPhone it was a great way to burn time and prep for the test. I would definitely recommend the app and I will be getting the IFR version in a year or so when I go for my instrument rating.

Awesome!

This app is great! I cant stop using it. Its real simple and so easy to use. Makes me want to study. Safe flying!

study buddy

By far the best study tool for the private pilot knowledge test. I wouldnt have passed without it. Thanks

Great!

Used this for my PPL written prep. Scored a 95. Awesome. Now using the instrument study prep.

The best study app!

I was using the Gleim study software and only scoring in the high 70s and low 80s. I started using this app and after only 2 weeks, I scored a 94 on my FAA written. This is well worth the money!

Perfect Study guide buy it!!!

This app is a great resource. I highly recommend it!!!

Absolutely Fantastic

The app is a great way to practice test questions that are exactly like the questions on the actual test. There are over 700 practice questions, and they have full explanations with solutions. Its by far the easiest way to study and ensure a passing grade.

Where are the answers?

The FAA written test is a multiple choice memorization game, which means flashcards are the best way to train for it. This app shows all the questions -- but none of the answers. Which completely misses the point of a flash card prep app, which is to get you to where you can recognize the right answer to the question. It was ten bucks wasted. Off to cut up my Jeppesen test prep book, get some glue and three-by-fives, and build my own set....
